Effective solutions for tooth restorations and transformations

For teeth that need a full restoration, beyond that which can be achieved with a filling alone, we can use crowns and bridges. Crowns can be used to improve the overall appearance of your smile with a natural-coloured cover up to mask damage or decay. They can also be used in a bridge to support a false tooth between them, able to fill in gaps left by missing teeth.

Crowns

Crowns fit completely over a whole tooth, concealing defects caused by decay, discolouration, chips or large fillings. They form a protective cover for badly decayed teeth and are effectively used to repair damage affecting the structure and functionality of a tooth.

Crowns are made from a variety of materials, including metal, porcelain or ceramic. They are made to blend perfectly with the rest of your natural teeth, seamlessly fitting in with your smile.

What is involved in the treatment?

Initially, we will ensure the internal structure of your tooth is intact and there are no signs of infection. We remove a layer of tooth structure, ensuring we leave a strong core. We will then take impressions of your teeth, so your crown can be made to perfectly match.

We will fit a temporary crown over your prepared tooth to protect it between appointments. Once your crown is ready, we remove the temporary crown and fix the new permanent one into place with strong dental adhesive.

Bridges

A longer-lasting alternative to dentures, bridges are a very effective way to replace one or more missing teeth. They use crowns slotted over the teeth on either side of the gap as supports for the replacement tooth, the bridge between them. We can match your bridge to the colour of your natural teeth, allowing you to show off your new full smile straight away.

Replacing a missing tooth with a bridge prevents your remaining teeth from shifting out of position and causing alignment issues. It also protects your gum, which is otherwise left vulnerable.

What is involved in the treatment?

We first ensure the neighbouring teeth that will support the bridge are healthy and strong. These teeth are then prepared with the removal of a layer of enamel.

We then take impressions of your teeth, so your bridge can be custom-made. We fit a temporary bridge to protect your teeth in the meantime.

Once your bridge is ready, we will fit it in your mouth, adjusting as necessary. Once we have ensured it is a perfect fit, your bridge is fixed into place using a strong dental cement.
