Dental Implants – the effective way to replace missing teeth - Dentist Surrey

Missing teeth can affect a lot more than just your confidence. Diet, speech and even the health of your surrounding teeth and mouth can be impacted when you lose a tooth. Astonishingly, nearly 75% of Brits are without their full set of natural teeth, and so tooth-loss is a big problem in the UK. But don’t worry, as your options are not limited to dentures or a gappy smile. Dental Implants are an effective and affordable way to fill the hole.

Advantages of Implants

  • Appearance – Dental implants are the most natural-looking way of replacing missing teeth, as we can colour-match them to fit right in place with your existing teeth.
  • Bite – Implants will give you the same bite strength as your natural teeth, meaning that you can continue to eat the foods you love.
  • Longevity – Dental implants last longer than any other form of teeth replacement. Dentures last on average around 5 years and dental bonding a year or two, whilst implants last for over 10 years.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

So, you’ve decided to start your journey into replacing your teeth but you’re not sure what the next step is. At your appointment with us at Sync Dental Centre, we will assess and ensure that dental implants are the correct treatment for your needs and then carry out a full examination of your mouth to plan the treatment.

Firstly, any remaining part of the tooth is removed to start with a clean slate. Then, we graft the socket in order to preserve as much bone as possible. At this stage, we must let the grafted extraction site heal, which takes approximately 4 months as this also lets the graft mature.

The next step is the placement of the implant post, which is done via flapless surgery, a minimally invasive and least disruptive procedure. Around 3 months after implant placement, the final impressions are taken, and the screw-retained crown is attached to the implant. Although the process itself is lengthy, the results at Sync Dental Centre are long-lasting and make for the most natural-looking and working teeth.

Don’t wait to fix your smile, as it could be costly for your health. If gaps are not filled, surrounding teeth drift into empty spaces, causing your smile to become wonky or crooked, and loss of bone can cause your face to appear sunken. Depending on which teeth are missing, it can also affect your speech and pronunciation of words and might even prevent you from eating and drinking your favourite things.
