We are firm advocates of having a great looking smile. We know, from what many of our patients have told us over the years, what a difference it can make to their lives.
Not only is it always nice to see an attractive face looking back at you in the mirror, but it is also likely to be reflected in your confidence during your daily life. This same confidence can be of real benefit when attending a job interview or going on a date, for example.
Whilst we often put an emphasis on the quality of your smile, and improving it through cosmetic dental treatments such as teeth whitening, it is also important not to forget the rest of your face too. An attractive smile, but with tired looking and wrinkled skin, will usually only get you part way to where you would really like to be.
The ageing effect
However much we think it will never affect us whilst we are young, we will all eventually notice those tell tale signs of getting older; the wrinkles that gradually appear on our face and the thinning out of some of our facial features, especially on the lips. Whilst make up, used skillfully, can help to ‘mask’ some of these signs of ageing for a little while, it is really just postponing the inevitable.
Thankfully, our Addlestone facial aesthetics team are able to help you. Following a thorough consultation and using a range of treatments, including wrinkle reduction and dermal fillers, we can help to rejuvenate your skin and give you a younger and more natural looking appearance.
The Botox effect
First of all, let us be clear on one thing. If you have a Botox treatment at our Addlestone clinic, you will not suffer the visual effects that we are sure you have all seen in the media at various times. ‘Trout pouts’ and the ‘frozen featureless face’ are not signs of good quality facial aesthetic care and could originate from a number of factors. In some instances, people elsewhere (often wealthy ones) may have insisted on these exaggerated features, and sadly, when money is involved, some ‘practitioners’ will carry out procedures that they know are ill advised. Other reasons may include unqualified or inexperienced practitioners administering products, sometimes at unregulated premises.
At the Sync Dental Centres, you can be sure that this will not happen to you. Our team of clinicians are highly trained and experienced. We also reserve the right to refuse any treatment that we think is potentially dangerous or even ill advised.
Botox treatment is a safe and effective means of reducing lines and wrinkles on the skin. These often occur in areas where the skin frequently moves, such as on the forehead. By applying a small quantity of Botox just beneath the skin in these areas, these lines and wrinkles will become much less visible and leave you with smoother and younger looking skin.
Botox can also help with hyperhidrosis, where the client suffers from profuse sweating of the armpits, sometimes to the point where they have to wear padding to soak it up. Botox can be used to help with this and acts to prevent the sweat glands from working. This process will need to be repeated every 3 to 6 months, but for those suffering from this potentially embarrassing problem, it can really offer a new lease of life.
Dermal fillers, or Juvederm, as we use at our Sync Dental Centres, are slightly different, albeit administered in the same manner as Botox, using a fine needle to apply the treatment into the skin. Juvederm is largely used for replacing the collagen in our skin that is gradually lost as we get older. This is particularly evident in areas such as the lips, cheeks and the corners of the mouth (marionette lines).
Rather than causing muscles to relax, as Botox does, Juvederm is used to ‘plump up’ these areas, replacing the collagen that provides fullness and elasticity. Common problems that occur when we get older, such as thinning lips, can be restored to a fuller, more attractive appearance using this safe, but effective, method.
If you have arrived at that ‘certain age’ where you have started to notice unwanted lines and wrinkles appearing, this doesn’t mean that you simply have to accept the inevitability of older looking skin. Both Botox and Juvederm may offer the solution that you are looking for. These increasingly popular facial treatments can make a real difference to the quality of your life.
