Necessary tooth extractions

We do everything possible to protect your natural teeth, but sometimes extraction is necessary. We offer tooth extraction treatment for patients who have a tooth damaged to the point where it cannot be effectively restored using other methods. Extraction can provide a sense of relief, especially if your damaged tooth has been causing you pain.

We may choose extraction in a number of cases, including;

Following tooth extraction, we offer various effective tooth replacement options, such as implants, to restore the function and aesthetics of your smile.

Simple extractions

Extracting teeth can be a very straightforward procedure. In simple cases, we use local anaesthetic and loosen the tooth with dental forceps. The tooth then comes out easily without touching the surrounding gums. We make the treatment as comfortable as possible, and have sedation available if needed for more nervous patients.

Surgical extractions

In some cases, we may need to give the tooth a helping hand in order to remove it successfully. A surgical extraction involves making a small incision in the gum to remove a tooth that may have broken off or is concealed under the gum.

After your extraction

Immediately after your tooth has been taken out, try to keep the site clean by rinsing with warm, salty water. You can encourage healing by eating softer foods or chewing on the opposite side of your mouth. Also, try to avoid smoking or using a straw, as these can dislodge the clot that forms in the hole after extraction.
